Summer Bus Service Notice - Wool,Winfrith,Bovington & Lulworth Area

First X54 (Jurassic Coaster service) between Weymouth and Poole will commence running to its summer timetable from 09/04/17. As now, there will be four journeys each way per day. The main differences compared with the current (winter) timetable are...
- The service will run additionally on Sundays.
- Some journeys on Mon-Sat will be retimed.
Summer service First X55 will run daily from 20/05/17 to 03/09/17 between Weymouth (Kings Statue) and Bovington (Tank Museum) via Osmington, Winfrith, Lulworth Cove and Wool. As last year, there will be three journeys each way per day spaced about 3 hours apart. However, there will be two changes to the route...
- The route will start/end at Kings Statue, not Littlesea Holiday Park as last year.
- After terminating at the Tank Museum, the bus will call additionally at Monkey World before returning to Weymouth.
First 15 will continue to run on schooldays only between Weymouth and Wareham (Purbeck School) via Lulworth and Wool until 19/05/17, when it will be withdrawn altogether. First introduced this service in October 2016 in response to the County Council's new strategy to open up school buses to the general public (clearly not a success!). The two journeys per day (one each way) are essentially positioning moves to/from First's depot in Weymouth after the morning school run and before the afternoon school run.
After a successful trial for TankFest last year, shuttle bus First 55 will run on four event days in 2017, shuttling between Wool Station and the Tank Museum. The four event days are...
- 29/04/17  Tiger Day
- 24/06/17  TankFest (Sat)
- 25/06/17  TankFest (Sun)
- 16/09/17  Tiger Day
Following the proposed withdrawal of subsidy, Damory bus services 104 (Lulworth circular) and 105 (Wool-Bovi-Wareham) are expected to cease operating from the end of July 2017. County Council is looking to put in place some form of replacement, otherwise the only option will be setting up a community transport alternative as happened when the Damory 103 was withdrawn last year.
It is anticipated that shuttle buses will connect Wool and Wareham stations with the new (to Dorset!) Bestival event at Lulworth Castle over the period 7-10 Sept. It is expected that buses will ferry festival-goers direct to Bournemouth station at the end of the event, because local stations would not be able to cope with the rush.
As in previous years, no shuttle buses are anticipated for Camp Bestival over the period 27-30 July.
